Alec Segaert avoids disqualification after win in GP Denain

Alec Segaert was fined by the UCI after winning the GP Denain. The Belgian had fifteen UCI points deducted and must pay a fine of 500 Swiss francs for 'using a non-compliant position or support point on the bike.'

In the final sprint, Segaert held his brakes with his fingertips to be as aerodynamic as possible. According to the regulations, this is officially prohibited.

The Bahrain Victorious rider got off lightly with the fine and points deduction. The UCI regulations also state that for this offense, a rider can be disqualified or removed from the race.

For example, Frenchman Pierre Thierry was disqualified from the 2025 Tour of Poland due to an illegal bike position. Hugo Nunes earlier received a yellow card during this season's Volta ao Algarve.
