Immediate chaos in Milan-San Remo as attackers take wrong turn at roundabout
Milan-San Remo did not start flawlessly. After a few kilometers, a group of attackers took the wrong direction at a roundabout. As a result, the riders saw their small lead over the peloton vanish immediately.
At 296 kilometers from the finish, the eleven attackers took the left side of a roundabout when they should have taken the right side. This caused the group of riders to end up on the wrong road. Part of the peloton also made the same mistake. Several riders had to turn back and chase the peloton.
