Cristián Rodríguez does not have to worry about his future. His current employer Arkéa-B&B Hotels will no longer be in the cycling peloton in 2026, but the 30-year-old Spaniard has already signed a contract with XDS Astana.
The climber signs for one year with the Kazakh team. "I am very happy to join a great team like XDS Astana Team. It is a legendary team with a long history, performing at the highest level for many years. I am grateful to the team for the trust they have placed in me as a rider, and I will do everything to repay that trust."
"Next season I will be fully ready to give 100%, to pursue the team's goals, and support my new teammates. At the same time, I want to continue growing as a cyclist and will seek out opportunities. I want to put my best foot forward in the races where the team counts on me. I am really looking forward to the new season," the new signing says in a press release.
Vinokourov on loyal Rodríguez
"We have been following Cristián Rodríguez for quite some time," team manager Alexander Vinokourov states in the same press release. "He consistently performs well, achieves strong results in races that suit him, and is always ready to help his teammates, even in Grand Tours."
"Now we have the opportunity to contract him for next season to strengthen our climbing group and selection for hilly one-day races. There are many tough races on the cycling calendar, and we traditionally aim for good results there."
