David Dekker has found a team for 2026. The Dutch sprinter is moving from Euskaltel-Euskadi to BEAT Cycling Club, which has been actively searching for a sprinter in recent months.
Dekker has raced in recent years for Visma | Lease a Bike, Arkea-B&B Hotels, and Euskaltel-Euskadi. In his early years as a pro, the Brabant rider achieved some notable results, including second places in the UAE Tour and a runner-up spot in a Giro d’Italia stage, but this year Dekker faced setbacks. The sprinter suffered from a narrowing of the iliac artery, for which he underwent surgery in early June.
In early October, the Dutchman made his return to the peloton at the Tour of Taihu Lake, where he finished seventh in the general classification. Dekker already knew by then that his contract with Euskaltel-Euskadi would not be extended.
At that time, he feared for his future: "For 2026 I have no idea what it will look like for me. After such an operation and recovery, it is difficult enough to convince a team. Let alone every team manager you speak with wants to wait for clarity on the merger of Lotto and Intermarché, as well as the possible disappearance of Arkéa-B&B Hotels."
