Cian Uijtdebroeks doubtful for Paris-Nice
Cian Uijdebroeks was set to participate in Paris-Nice this spring, but the Belgian will likely have to skip the French stage race. The new addition to Movistar sustained an elbow injury last month and was only able to complete his second outdoor training last week, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.
His team Movistar is reportedly waiting a few more days before making a decision about his participation in Paris-Nice (March 8-15). The 'Race to the Sun' kicks off this Sunday with a challenging road stage from Achères to Carrieres-sous-Poissy.
If Paris-Nice comes too soon for Uijdebroeks, then the Tour of Catalonia (March 23-29) could be the next race for the 23-year-old climber to regain race rhythm.
A month ago, Uijdebroeks crashed during the third stage of the Tour of Valencia, sustaining an elbow injury. Further examination revealed a tear in the radial head of his elbow, which has kept Uijdebroeks from racing in recent weeks.
The crash of the former Visma | Lease a Bike rider happened off-camera in the Tour of Valencia. He was only seen briefly after the finish line, after which he was taken to the hospital with his arm and elbow bandaged.
