Roy van den Berg, Harrie Lavreysen, and Jeffrey Hoogland have once again succeeded in claiming the world title in the team sprint. The virtually unbeatable 'Bullet Train' proved too strong in the final at the Track Cycling World Championships in Chile against Great Britain.
Van den Berg, Lavreysen, and Hoogland were pushed to the limit in the final by the British trio Joseph Truman, Hamish Turnbull, and—last but not least—Matthew Richardson. The British got off to a faster start at the Velódromo Peñalolén in Santiago, Chile, and even after the second lap, Great Britain still seemed on course for the world title.
However, this time it was not Lavreysen but Hoogland who made the difference and turned the tables. With a fantastic acceleration in the final lap, he converted a deficit into a lead of three-tenths of a second.
For the seventh time in eight World Championships, the Dutch sprint team has taken gold in the men's team sprint, and it’s the sixth time with the current lineup of starter Van den Berg, Lavreysen, and Hoogland. The nearly unbeatable Bullet Train has also secured two Olympic gold medals, at the Tokyo ('21) and Paris ('24) Games.

Bronze for the French sprint team
In the 'consolation final' for the bronze medal, the French track sprinters (Florian Grengbo, Rayan Helal, and Tom Derache) faced off against the Japanese sprint team, consisting of Yoshitaku Nagasako, Kaiya Ota, and Yuta Obara. This battle eventually ended in favor of France.
