Dylan van Baarle rode the past three seasons for Visma | Lease a Bike, but from this year on, he will be recognized by the Soudal Quick-Step kit. We don’t have to wait much longer for the debut of the Dutch classics specialist representing the Belgian team.
Van Baarle starts his first season for 'The Wolfpack' in just over a month on Portuguese soil. "The two training camps went very well. It was nice to get to know everyone, from the staff to the riders. I can’t wait for my first race, the Volta ao Algarve, because I’m excited to finally start in these colors," says the 33-year-old rider on his new team's website.
Van Baarle has also pointed out a few other races. "I’m also looking forward to the Opening Weekend, which will be special in a Belgian team. We have a strong squad and we can play a leading role there. Of course, that’s always easier said than done, but we are confident. We have many riders who have proven they can fight for a good result in the cobbled classics."
Aiming for Flanders and Roubaix
The experienced rider hopes to reconnect with the highest level at his new team after some challenging years at Visma | Lease a Bike. "I hope to reach my best level again for the two Monuments," he refers to the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. "These races hold a special place in my heart. I would love to compete for a good result or contribute to the team’s success."
"I’m also looking forward to being there for the team when they need me in stage races. We have many riders who can shine in these kinds of races, regardless of the terrain. Hopefully, it will be a good year for us."
