Ellen van Dijk officially retired a month and a half ago, but today she still took to the start line in the Chrono des Nations (1.1). And not without success: the Dutch rider from Lidl-Trek won her very last race. In the 26.7-kilometer individual time trial around Les Herbiers, she narrowly defeated Alessia Vigilia.
The 38-year-old Van Dijk was already farewelled by the peloton on September 7 at the Simac Ladies Tour, but reappeared a week later at the Grand Prix de Wallonie. Now she was also at the start of the Chrono des Nations. She managed to win the time trial event by just one second ahead of Alessia Vigilia (FDJ-SUEZ). Christina Schweinberger (Fenix-Deceuninck) took the third spot on the podium.
