Fem van Empel enjoys her holiday in Thailand: “It’s time for myself”
A month after the 23-year-old reigning cyclocross world champion Fem van Empel put her cycling career on hold indefinitely, the Dutch rider is enjoying life in Thailand.
Van Empel shares footage on Instagram of herself, which she says shows her relaxing, having fun, and making space for herself.
That was also her plan when Van Empel handed in her contract with Visma | Lease a Bike. "I am now giving myself the space to discover who I am and what I want to do. It's a leap into the unknown, but one that gives me confidence and freedom. I look forward to seeing what the future holds and which new challenges and opportunities will come my way,” she said at the time.
Van Empel is a three-time and current cyclocross world champion. Earlier this winter, she recorded her fiftieth professional victory.
