INEOS Grenadiers will have its own continental development team in the peloton starting next year, which they will rename the INEOS Grenadiers Racing Academy. The Academy will also focus on development programs for young riders.
The team aims to concentrate on discovering, preparing, and developing the next generation of cycling talent. According to the team, this will help young riders realize their full potential in a structured environment. Previously, the British WorldTeam did not have its own development team but had a partnership with the German Team Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank.
The initiative came from the brand-new 'Director of Racing,' Geraint Thomas. "For me, it’s important to help young riders understand what it means to be a professional. Some are living far from home for the first time; others have moved to the other side of the world, so they have a lot to process. It’s about some race-specific skills, insight into their bodies, and managing their emotions. Not just about hitting numbers. It’s the whole package," he explains.
"We have signed several promising young riders for the Racing Academy, and when I first saw them all together, it felt like I went back twenty years in time. I saw myself sitting where they are now, with their whole careers ahead of them. They are young, enthusiastic, and it’s great that they’ve been integrated into the WorldTour team."
Among the roster, we recognize a familiar name in Cameron Rogers. The nephew of Australian former world time trial champion Michael Rogers recently impressed at the Tour of Holland. Also standing out are Dane Theodor Storm, who has previously ridden for the WorldTeam, and the Italian Nicolas Milesi.
