"I feel like a little boy winning for the first time": sprint coach Marcel Kittel proud of Dylan Groenewegen
On his first official race day for the Unibet Rose Rockets, Marcel Kittel was able to celebrate immediately. The German sprint coach saw his rider Dylan Groenewegen win the Clàssica Comunitat Valenciana after a brilliant sprint setup.
"What a rollercoaster today!", the former German top sprinter wrote afterwards on Instagram. "My first race in the car, where I coached the Unibet Rose Rockets via radio during a tough race day. After the peloton was shattered by echelons, the team brought Dylan Groenewegen into a perfect position for the win."
"Congratulations to everyone on the whole team for this fantastic start. I feel like a little boy winning his first race! I’m so happy with this team performance. Focused on one goal and plan! This is amazing for our fantastic group of people who make the Rockets who they are! I’m ready for more!"
Particularly impressive was the lead out by Elmar Reinders and Rory Townsend. Groenewegen will soon race the Trofeo Palma (February 1) and afterwards the Étoile de Bessèges (starting February 4).
