Is Remco Evenepoel racing in the Flèche Wallonne? "Looks good at the moment"
Now that the Amstel Gold Race is behind him, the puncheurs are focusing on next Wednesday, when La Flèche Wallonne is on the calendar. The big question is: will Remco Evenepoel also compete in the climbing race that finishes on the Mur de Huy? La Flèche Wallonne is, after all, tentatively included in his race schedule.
In the days leading up to the Amstel, there was still no clear answer, but what about after his victory in the Limburg classic? "I don't feel exhausted at the moment. I'm happy with how I feel. We'll review all the data now, but so far it looks good," he said. "If the weather holds up, I hope to race on Wednesday."
In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Evenepoel expressed similar sentiments. "We will analyze this race and then probably decide tomorrow. It’s on the list, but not yet confirmed."
"We'll see how I recover from this, but I felt good, so I hope I can race. They’re forecasting nice weather, and it’s always great to have good weather at La Flèche Wallonne, but first I’m going to enjoy this victory."
No Pogacar, but Seixas
One rider who definitely won’t be appearing at La Flèche Wallonne is Tadej Pogacar. The Slovenian is fully focused on Liège-Bastogne-Liège this coming Sunday. However, with the French prodigies Paul Seixas, Mattias Skjelmose, Romain Grégoire, Lenny Martinez, and Kévin Vauquelin, there are still plenty of strong contenders lined up alongside Evenepoel (if he starts) at the start.
