One month after Kevin Bonaldo, a 25-year-old rider from the Italian Sc Padovani Polo Cherry Bank continental team, fell ill following the Piccola Sanremo in Sovizzo, he passed away this morning.
Bonaldo was immediately attended to by the medical staff at the event after the finish of that national race and was subsequently admitted to the intensive care unit of the San Bortolo hospital in Vicenza.
In the following weeks, he showed signs that gave hope for his recovery. Unfortunately, his condition worsened last night, and this morning he died surrounded by his family.
Bonaldo had been active at the continental level in Italy for five years. He mainly made a name for himself in national races but also achieved top-10 finishes this season in 2.2 stage races such as the Belgrade Banjaluka and Dookoła Mazowsza.
Rest in peace, Kevin Bonaldo. 2000–2025 🖤 😢 🖤🕯️https://t.co/S3KLNjrfys pic.twitter.com/jVRcAiuoW1
