Jason Osborne has crowned himself esports world champion for the third time in his career. In the live final in Abu Dhabi, he was better than Pole Michal Kaminski and Belgian Lennert Teugels in a thrilling battle.
Just like in the women’s race, the competition on the MyWhoosh platform was dominated from start to finish by the winner. In The Mountain’s Verdict, the opening mountain stage, Osborne immediately created a gap. His mission to complete the eight-kilometer mountain stage failed. The chasing elimination line caught him after 18:29. Still enough margin to deliver the first blow to his rivals.
In the hilly stage, the German had to give it his all to keep Kaminski and Teugels behind him. He succeeded.
In the final sprint stage, the former Alpecin-Deceuninck pro resisted most attack attempts. The one-and-a-half-kilometer circuit had to be completed eight times, with double points at the finish. Osborne managed to extend his lead and so convincingly claimed a third esports world title, taking home the rainbow jersey and $15,000 prize money.
