Jasper Philipsen reveals program and sticks to 2025 plan
Jasper Philipsen will start his season next week at the Volta ao Algarve 2024. This serves as the buildup to the Opening Weekend, where he will once again compete in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. Last year, he finished third and first, respectively. His main goals remain the Monuments, for which he is preparing in the same way as he did last season.
Alpecin-Premier Tech has revealed the program for its top sprinter and classics rider for the entire spring. Except for starting this year in Portugal instead of, as last season, the UAE Tour, nothing changes in his schedule up to Paris-Roubaix. This means that the 27-year-old Belgian will skip both Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico in early March. After the Opening Weekend, he will continue with Nokere Koerse.
What stands out is that the Tour of Flanders is again missing from his schedule. The last time he rode this Belgian Monument was in 2022, but on that occasion – just like in 2019 for UAE Emirates – he didn’t finish. For 2024, the Tour of Flanders was initially on his provisional program, but he was withdrawn by his team from the start list the week before. Normally, Mathieu van der Poel is the designated team leader in that race.
