Jonas Vingegaard critical of Paris-Nice route: "not WorldTour worthy"

No, Jonas Vingegaard did not have his most enjoyable day on the bike in the opening stage of Paris-Nice. When there were quite a few crashes in the finale, the leader of Team Visma | Lease a Bike was seriously on edge.

Vingegaard was caught behind several incidents and therefore finished slightly later, but since these events happened within the last three kilometers, he did not lose time in the general classification.

"It was stressful. Very stressful. I hope not all my race days this year will be like this. That would not be fun," Vingegaard candidly told the Danish Feltet.

According to Vingegaard, this was mainly due to the route. "I didn't find the course particularly good today. I don't think it's worthy of a WorldTour race. There were poor roads, constant turns left and right, speed bumps. Especially the final descent, which we did three times, was not up to WorldTour standards," said the two-time Tour winner.

The Danish outlet also presented the criticism to organizer ASO, but they declined to comment.
