Jonas Vingegaard gets new coach after Tim Heemskerk departure

Jonas Vingegaard is getting a new coach for the first time at Team Visma | Lease a Bike following Tim Heemskerk’s departure. In the press release, the team announced that “the riders who were under Tim’s guidance will receive a different performance coach within the squad.” For Vingegaard, that coach will be Mathieu Heijboer.

Heijboer serves as Head of Performance at Team Visma | Lease a Bike. Since 2024, he has been the coach of Wout van Aert.

Whether a lot will change for Vingegaard with Heijboer as his new coach remains to be seen. In a previous interview with WielerFlits, Heijboer himself said about the team’s performance staff: “In our squad, riders are supported by the Visma | Lease a Bike performance team.”

“Within that team, we have different coaches, each responsible as the primary contact for a few riders. But the philosophy we follow as a team is the same for everyone,” said the Dutchman.
