The queen stage of the Tour de Langkawi (2.Pro) was won by Joris Delbove. The French rider broke away in the final phase from an elite group and then managed to hold on to the flanks of Fraser's Hill.
After four consecutive stages for the sprinters, we finally entered the Malaysian mountains today. Not for a finish on the well-known climb to Genting Highlands, but this time the finish line was set at Fraser's Hill. The name might suggest it’s a mere hill, but it is a serious climb of 27.7 kilometers at an average gradient of 3.7%, with some steeper sections.

Seven riders hoped to start the climb of Fraser's Hill with a lead and went off early. The names? Nicola Marcerou (TotalEnergies), Muhammad Nur Aiman Bin Rosli (Terengganu Cycling Team), Vojtěch Kmínek (Burgos Burpellet BH), Edouard Bonnefoix (7Eleven Cliqq Roadbike Philippines), Muhammad Yusri Shaari (Malaysian national team), Yauhen Sobal (Chengdu DYC Cycling Team), and Zeb Kyffin from Unibet Tietema Rockets.
These attackers were ahead of the peloton for a while but couldn’t hold out on the decisive final climb. Even before hitting the climb, the breakaways were caught. Then we looked forward to the first accelerations uphill, although cycling fans were left without footage or spectacle due to poor connection.
Delbove picks the right moment
With five kilometers to go, Joris Delbove saw the perfect moment to attack. The 25-year-old Frenchman broke away from an elite group of about thirty riders, created a nice gap, and proved strong enough to stay out of reach of the first chasers. The TotalEnergies rider crossed the finish line first with a small lead—ahead of Anders Halland Johannessen and Yannis Voisard—securing the second professional victory of his career.
Delbove had also been successful earlier this year in the Tour du Rwanda and had already made a mark in 2025 with top ten finishes in the Vuelta a Asturias, Clàssica Terres de l'Ebre, and the Circuito de Getxo. The Frenchman scored a double win today in the Tour de Langkawi, as he now also takes the lead in the general classification. There are still three relatively easy stages ahead in the coming days.
