Josef Černý will also be part of the cycling peloton in 2026, but we will see the Czech rider in a less prominent role. The 32-year-old rouleur has signed with Elkov-Kasper after leaving Soudal Quick-Step. Černý is returning to his old team, having previously competed for the Continental squad.
Elkov-Kasper sees the experienced Černý as a valuable asset for stage races, time trials, and the development of younger riders. "Josef brings tremendous experience from international cycling. We believe he will not only be a leader in important domestic races but also a mentor for our young riders," team manager Petr Kaltofen says, full of praise for his countryman.
Černý has spent the past five seasons riding for Soudal Quick-Step and its predecessors in the WorldTour. Earlier in his career, he also wore the jersey of CC Team and has already spent two seasons with Elkov-Kasper.

We know the Czech primarily as a time trial specialist, proven by his prologue win in the Tour de Romandie (2020) and three national time trial titles (2018, 2020, and 2021), but Černý is more than 'just' a time trialist.
For example, in the coronavirus year 2020, he also won a Giro d'Italia stage after a long solo breakaway and has also won the overall classification of the Czech Cycling Tour and the Tour of Slovakia.
