Eli Iserbyt is not doing well. The Belgian cyclocross rider seemed to be on the road to recovery after a difficult period during which he underwent surgery for his narrowed iliac artery, but now he is experiencing pain in his left leg again. Team boss Jurgen Mettepenningen even fears for his season.
Mettepenningen shares his story with HLN. "The pain in Eli’s left leg has resurfaced. The blood flow is not optimal, and there appears to be a new narrowing of the iliac artery. Our hope has already been higher than it is now. We hoped he was past all the troubles, but the ordeal is not over yet."
The Jaarmarktcross in Niel will certainly no longer be on his schedule. "In my opinion, we shouldn’t even think about a comeback in the coming weeks. We shouldn’t fool ourselves." Is it the end of the season? "Anything is possible and that could also be the case, we have to be honest about that. But I’m not going to speak out of turn."
