Juri Hollmann has spoken out again, seven months after his serious crash in the Giro d'Italia. The German has been undergoing rehabilitation since then, but his comeback to the professional peloton is still pending. Hollmann is no longer part of Alpecin-Premier Tech’s lineup, but the team is definitely not abandoning the 26-year-old German.
On the contrary: although the squad has not extended his contract at the WorldTeam level, they will continue to support Hollmann—in cooperation with bike manufacturer Canyon. “We are now offering a solution: Juri is still part of our team for coaching, support, and training camps, while Canyon provides him the opportunity to compete in off-road races.”
Last season, Hollmann was one of the victims of a major crash during the Giro stage to Naples. He suffered a nasty arm fracture and also had to undergo surgery on his pelvis. He ultimately spent five weeks in an Antwerp hospital and another seven weeks in a rehabilitation center in Berlin. The German rider was only allowed to leave the clinic three months after his crash.
Progress
On Instagram, Hollmann reflected on an extremely eventful 2025 for him. “This was without a doubt the toughest year I have ever experienced. I will remember it forever. It’s now a little over seven months since the accident (editor’s note) and I am doing everything I can every day to come back stronger. To rehabilitate, with the hope of making my return as a professional cyclist.”
“This process will take a long time, but I am grateful for the support and the people around me. In October, I started walking again without crutches. After that, I also got back on the bike and enjoyed the fresh air again, which made me very happy, although I can’t cycle for very many hours yet. But all the hard work is paying off. The progress is visible,” concluded an optimistic Hollmann.
