Lorena Wiebes won Binche-Chimay-Binche pour Dames for the second time in her career. For the Dutch champion, it was her 25th victory of 2025. She defeated Lara Gillespie and Maria Giulia Confalonieri in the sprint. For the latter, it was a special podium, as she decided to conclude her professional career in Binche.
The women's race of Binche-Chimay-Binche started (contrary to what the name suggests) in Chimay. The finish was indeed in Binche, where a challenging local circuit was laid out. This circuit, featuring a long uphill section and a cobbled sector, had to be covered two and a half times. While Charlotte Kool made her debut for Fenix-Deceuninck, SD Worx-Protime started with, among others, Mischa Bredewolde and Lorena Wiebes at the line.
On the way to Binche, a fully Dutch early break formed. Initially, the lead group consisted of three riders, but Anne van Rooijen (VolkerWessels) and Kirstie van Haaften (Cofidis) eventually dropped Britt de Grave (DD Group). The two remaining attackers then extended their lead over the peloton to three minutes. SD Worx-Protime reduced the gap to just over a minute, after which the chase group became restless.
SD Worx-Protime keeps Nelson close
One attack after another was seen. This increased the pace, the group began to thin out, and Van Rooijen and Van Haaften were left isolated. About thirty kilometers from the finish, the two were caught. In this phase, Bredewolde was also very active, but after re-grouping, Josie Nelson made the first serious break. However, SD Worx-Protime made sure to keep the British rider from Picnic PostNL within reach.

Just after the start of the 15-kilometer final lap, Nelson was caught again. Bredewolde tried once more but failed to get away. An attack by Lieke Nooijen had more success. The rider from Visma | lease a Bike powered away hard and was joined by Femke Markus (SD Worx-Protime), Franziska Koch (Picnic PostNL), and Lara Gillespie (UAE Team ADQ). Shortly after, Maria Giulia Confalonieri (Uno-X Mobility), who was racing her final professional event, also managed to bridge up.
'Just' a sprint, 'just' Wiebes
It seemed like a good situation for the five attackers, but the gap still closed. At that moment, Markus launched another attack. She stayed clear alone for a while, but eight kilometers from the finish, the small peloton—still about thirty riders strong—caught her as well. Was calm restored now? No, attacks kept coming down. In the final kilometers, however, SD Worx-Protime restored order to set up Wiebes.
Koch tried to disrupt the sprint by attacking early on the cobbles. Wiebes—racing for the first time in the red-white-blue jersey after Demi Vollering took over her European title—immediately jumped onto her wheel. She then reacted to another attack before launching her own sprint. She had so much left that she outpaced everyone else. Gillespie stayed closest and secured second place. Confalonieri took third, while Kool finished fourth, just off the podium.
🚴🇧🇪 | No one wants to sprint against Lorena Wiebes at the finish, but everyone ends up with Wiebes at the line. So the outcome is predictable... another victory! 🙌🇳🇱 #BincheChimayBinche
