Former Dutch Pro Cyclist Michael Boogerd has advised Thymen Arensman to leave INEOS Grenadiers. According to Boogerd, Arensman should get out 'as soon as possible' because of Dave Brailsford, the sporting director at INEOS Grenadiers who recently returned to the cycling team.
Boogerd considers Brailsford 'the biggest hypocrite in cycling,' he says in Wielerrevue. The man from The Hague points to the dominance of the cycling team in the past decade, which still raises doubts among many.
"If questions are even being raised in the British parliament about INEOS's doctor, then you don’t need a degree in mathematics to understand that something was going on.
Boogerd believes Brailsford knows all the details about the team's past – but that he has consciously chosen to sacrifice people. "When I look at Arensman now, who I think has achieved his results in a very clean way, I believe he needs to get out very quickly," he concludes.
