Michael Vanthourenhout had to skip the X2O-cross in Hofstade due to illness, but today he is back in action at the Superprestige in Heusden-Zolder. This was announced by his team Pauwels Sauzen-Altez Industriebouw to Sporza.
The Belgian narrowly finished in the top 10 of last Sunday’s World Cup in Koksijde, but after the Vlaamse Duinencross he felt unwell, prompting him to remove Hofstade from his schedule.
After a day of rest, Vanthourenhout is fit enough to pin on a race number again. It is also important for the West Flemish rider to start in the Heusden-Zolder race, as he is still fully involved in the fight for the overall Superprestige victory.
In the Superprestige standings, Vanthourenhout is currently in second place, just two points behind leader Niels Vandeputte.
