'Netcompany INEOS builds future with signing of Spanish rising star'
Netcompany INEOS can count on the services of Markel Beloki in the coming years. At least, that is what Marca reports. The Spanish sports newspaper states that the 20-year-old Spaniard is about to sign a three-year contract with the British team.
The son of Joseba Beloki - who stood on the Tour de France podium three times at the beginning of the 21st century - currently rides for EF Education-EasyPost. Despite his very young age, the promising Spaniard is already in his third season with the American team.
Beloki turned professional three years ago with strong credentials - he won the Tour Alsace during his U23 period - and has since made several appearances at the highest level. Last season, he completed his first Grand Tour at the Vuelta a España (50th in the overall classification), while this year he placed ninth in the GP Miguel Indurain and thirteenth in the highly competitive Tour of the Basque Country.
Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Beloki is currently taking part in his first Giro d’Italia, where he is handling the general classification duties in the absence of his teammate and former winner Richard Carapaz. He is doing this quite creditably. The all-rounder is currently eighteenth in the standings, over eleven minutes behind leader Jonas Vingegaard.
Teammate of super talent Benjamin Noval
By signing Beloki, Netcompany INEOS is putting even more emphasis on Spanish cycling. In June 2025, the team already announced the signing of Benjamin Noval for two years. Spain is currently captivated by this 17-year-old Noval, who in the junior category produced power outputs comparable to the very best riders in the pro peloton. The versatile rider is preparing for his pro debut next year.
