Jayco AlUla, the team of riders including Michael Matthews and Ben O'Connor, has not yet applied for a WorldTour license for the upcoming three years and has not registered as a team for 2026. The Australian squad is therefore a notable absence on the provisional official list published Monday evening by the UCI. The women’s team, Liv Jayco AlUla, is also currently missing.
Teams had to register by October 15 for the 2026 season and could apply for a WorldTour or ProTeam license for the upcoming three-year period by submitting the required documents to the international cycling federation. These documents are now being reviewed by the UCI based on ethical, financial, and administrative criteria.
On the evening of Monday, October 20, the UCI published the official list of teams that have submitted an application and the necessary paperwork. There are some notable absences on the list. Among them is the Australian Jayco AlUla, which has not yet submitted documents. The women’s team, Liv AlUla Jayco, is also currently missing from the UCI overview.
Delay?
It is still uncertain whether Jayco AlUla will actually be absent from the (WorldTour) peloton next year. The missing teams still have the opportunity to correct their situation before the registration process ends, allowing them to sign up for the 2026 season. The final list will be announced on December 10.
May riders leave?
According to UCI regulations—and subject to certain applicable provisions—it is possible for riders on teams that have not yet applied to terminate their contracts early. This right is lost if the team manages to register before the final deadline.
In the past, we have seen such early departures—due to a team’s absence on the provisional registration list—in women’s cycling. When Ceratizit-WNT initially failed to submit an official license application last year, young rider Cedrine Kerbaol played it safe. Despite having an ongoing contract, the French rider reached an agreement with EF Education-Oatly.
