In cyclocross, you experience the strangest things. Umbrellas with covert advertising, ringing Swiss cowbells, or waddling dinosaur or carrot suits. It often can’t be quirky enough. Still, the attentive viewer saw a very striking attribute at the Jaarmarktcross in Niel last Tuesday.
On a section of the course through the forest where not many people were standing, Michael Vanthourenhout puts pressure on his closest chasers Laurens Sweeck (the eventual winner) and Niels Vandeputte. If you're in the race, you don’t notice it. But if you look closely, there is a fan standing by the side of the course with a... ironing board. We can add another one to the most unusual accessories ever seen in cyclocross!
