With no less than 19 victories, Paul Magnier was one of the big shots of 2025. The only 21-year-old Frenchman hopes to continue his winning streak this year, but with his many wins, he has created certain expectations for himself. However, this does not intimidate him.
In The Wolfpack Howls – a podcast by Soudal Quick-Step – Magnier first looks back on an extraordinarily successful 2025 for him and soon moves on to the upcoming cycling season. "I would like to have another season with fifteen wins and maybe even more victories."
The new French sprint sensation also wants to further develop in the classics. "My expectation for the coming season is to grow as a rider, make progress in the classics, be in top form at the right moments, and – of course – to win as much as possible. I really love winning races."
Admiration for Merlier
Since his debut in the pro ranks, Magnier has made rapid progress, but does he already see himself as a team leader within Soudal Quick-Step? "I don’t think I’m a leader yet, maybe in a few years," he remains modest.
He also doesn’t want to acknowledge any internal rivalry with the other sprinter on the team, Tim Merlier. "I really look up to Tim. He has a lot of experience, won many races, and he can give me advice on preparing for races, both mentally and physically."
