Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe has put together their puzzle for 2026. With leaders like Remco Evenepoel, Jai Hindley, Primoz Roglic, Florian Lipowitz, and Giulio Pellizzari in the ranks, the German team had to spread their leaders across the three Grand Tours to keep everyone satisfied. Primoz Roglic has the Vuelta a España in his final contract year with the team.
Roglic won the Vuelta in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2024, and is fully targeting his fifth overall victory in 2026. In 2025, the Slovenian skipped the Spanish Grand Tour and instead chose the Giro d'Italia (DNF) and the Tour de France (8th place). He will now skip those races.
How exactly the 36-year-old Slovenian’s race program will look beyond that is still unclear. However, at the press conference, he did indicate that he plans to ride Tirreno-Adriatico and the Tour of the Basque Country next year. Roglic already won the Italian stage race in 2019 and 2023, while he claimed victory in the Basque Country in 2018 and 2021.
'The best plan'
Roglic said in Mallorca that in 2026 he mainly wants to "enjoy and win races." “The races weren’t the problem last season, but the form was. You never know in advance where you'll finish, but realistically this is the best plan for me next year,” stated the Slovenian.
Incidentally, the Red Bull rider also said he wants to keep racing beyond 2026. The Slovenian is in his final contract year with the team but hopes to still be in the peloton in 2027. “I still have a lot of motivation and enjoyment in cycling,” he briefly added.
