Primoz Roglic may still race this summer: "Maybe I was misunderstood"
We might still see Primoz Roglic in action between the Tour of Romandie and the Vuelta a España. Recently, the Slovenian said he had planned a long race-free period during that time, but it turns out to be somewhat different, he now reveals.
Roglic finished Tirreno-Adriatico on Sunday in fifth place overall. Today, he is riding Milan-Turin, which was added to his program at the last moment, and afterwards he will focus on the Tour of the Basque Country (April 6-11) and the Tour of Romandie (April 28 - May 3). According to his earlier statements, a long, race-free period would follow toward his main goal for 2026: the Vuelta a España.
“I want to spend some time at home. I haven’t been home for quite a while. I want to spend some time with my family,” he explained his program choice in an interview with the Slovenian cycling site Peloton. However, he now revises this statement.
"Maybe I was a bit misunderstood," he said before the start of Milan-Turin, which was only added to his schedule after Tirreno-Adriatico. "I'm racing now as well, three days after Tirreno-Adriatico. I remain ready. You have to take it race by race, day by day. We’ll see what the summer brings."
"I don’t have a clear plan after the Tour of Romandie. I’m doing this race now, then more races will follow. If you’re in good shape, you can always race. If you’re not, it’s difficult. It simply depends on the level I’m at."
