With his long hair, impressive mustache, and full beard, Quinn Simmons doesn’t look like your average cyclist. The American also followed an unconventional career path, as Simmons first made a name for himself as a skier. If it’s up to him, he plans to switch back from bike to skis in the future.
Simmons has a striking dream: before the end of his career as a professional athlete, he wants to compete in the Winter Olympics. He aims to do this in the new discipline of ski mountaineering. Unlike other forms of skiing, this sport involves climbing up before skiing back down.
Simmons was among the world’s top youth in this discipline, but at some point decided to switch to cycling. And with success, as the American quickly made the jump to the pros. However, this doesn’t mean he has said goodbye to ski mountaineering.
"First, I want to experience the Summer Games in Los Angeles," Simmons refers to the 2028 Olympics. "After that, I want to set my sights on the 2034 Winter Games in Utah."
