'Retired' Marcel Meisen wins German cyclocross championship, titles also for Orts, Mason and Casasola

Not only in the Netherlands and Belgium but also elsewhere in Europe, national cyclo-cross championships took place this weekend. Cyclingflash summarizes the key results. Starting with the outcome of the German cyclo-cross championship, where we saw a very remarkable winner.

Marcel Meisen claimed victory in the German elite men's race. Meisen is, of course, a well-known name in the cyclo-cross world, but... the 37-year-old hung up his bike after last season. Since then, he hadn't competed in any official UCI cyclo-cross events. However, Meisen made an exception for the German championship. He took part in the race in Bensheim and won. After a thrilling head-to-head battle, he beat Fabian Eder. This was the 'retired' Meisen’s ninth German cyclo-cross title in the elite men's category.

Few surprises in the men's races, Gery beats Fouquenet
The men's races in Spain, Italy, and Great Britain were won by the expected riders. Felipe Orts triumphed in Spain, Filippo Fontana celebrated in Italy, and Cameron Mason took the win in Great Britain. In Switzerland, top favorite Kevin Kuhn also secured victory, although Dario Lillo made it quite challenging for him. In France, Joris Delbove—better known as a road rider for TotalEnergies—claimed the win.

The French women's title went to Célia Gery, who edged out Amandine Fouquenet. In Great Britain (where Zoe Bäckstedt was absent), Anna Flynn was the best, while Kristýna Zemanová triumphed in the Czech Republic and Sara Casasola won in Italy. Marie Schreiber celebrated for the fourth consecutive year in Luxembourg.
