Roger De Vlaeminck was admitted to the hospital on New Year's Eve. The former cycling champion was involved in a car accident and sustained minor injuries, reports Het Nieuwsblad.
De Vlaeminck spent New Year's with his partner Peggy, who lives in Bilzen. On his way back to his hometown Raprijke in Limburg, the Belgian lost control of the steering wheel for reasons still unclear and rolled over several times near Steneke.
The record winner of Paris-Roubaix was able to exit his car unaided and was then taken to the hospital in Sint-Niklaas with minor injuries. It is not yet known when he will be discharged from the hospital.
