The first round of the Cyclocross World Cup may be raced under wintry conditions. In Tábor, Czech Republic, where the opener takes place this weekend, temperatures are expected to drop significantly later this week, with a chance of snow.
Temperatures will already be below freezing in Tábor during the coming nights, and this weekend the mercury could fall to five degrees below zero. Starting Friday, it will also freeze during the day. It might cautiously thaw again on Sunday afternoon, but it will remain extremely cold. Riders will have to prepare for winter conditions—for the first time this cyclocross season.
There is also a possibility of snow on Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. The chance of wintry precipitation is around ten to twenty percent each day. While a thick layer is not expected, a light dusting on the course cannot be ruled out.
