Miguel Ángel Lopez was once one of the most promising GC talents in the peloton, but the Colombian never fully lived up to expectations. On top of that, he was also involved in doping issues, resulting in a four-year suspension. López then focused on running a hotel, but recently he has also appeared on the social media channels of a butcher shop. In the Instagram video, the rider can be seen in a butcher's workshop together with an employee of the company, promoting the displayed cuts of meat. López appears in several videos on the company's Instagram page.
The climber was caught during the 2022 Giro d'Italia for possession and use of the banned substance menotropin. In July 2023, he was provisionally suspended for this offense. The UCI confirmed this suspension in May of this year. That means López will only be allowed to race again on July 24, 2027.
