Team manager Christoph Roodhooft gave an update to the camera of Sporza regarding Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado’s knee injury. The team of the 27-year-old Dutch rider previously announced that she had to postpone the start of her cyclocross season due to a knee injury. Alvarado has now completed her first cyclocross training with the team, but it is still unclear when she will be able to race competitively again.
In early October, the bad news broke that Alvarado would have to delay the start of her cyclocross season. The Dutch rider for Fenix-Deceuninck suffers from a knee injury that has kept her out of action so far.
"Ceylin is still recovering from persistent knee problems, which means she will have to postpone the start of her cyclocross season. We wish her a speedy recovery,” read the message on her team’s channels ahead of the cyclocross opener in Meulebeke.
First training completed
Things are improving for the 2020 world champion. "It’s gradually getting better. Last week she was able to join the team for her first cyclocross training. Everything is slowly falling into place," Roodhooft reported during the Exact Cross Heerderstrand.
Still, Alvarado’s team boss emphasized once again that the knee injury was a major setback. "It has been a big blow, but you have to deal with it. Now it is progressing in the right direction," he concluded hopefully. It is still unknown when Alvarado will be able to compete again.
