This is how Jonas Vingegaard will prepare for the Tour de France after the Giro
Jonas Vingegaard is currently focused on winning the Giro d'Italia, but soon after comes his next main goal with the Tour de France (July 4-26). But what does his preparation for La Grande Boucle actually look like?
At the press conference following the seventeenth Giro stage, the Dane gave a glimpse behind the scenes. "I will stay home for two weeks after the Giro, and then head to Tignes with my teammates, once they return from the Dauphiné. Or well... I can’t remember the new name of that stage race," Vingegaard laughed, actually referring to the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
In Tignes, Vingegaard will prepare at altitude together with his Visma | Lease a Bike teammates for the Tour de France. The two-time Tour winner hopes this preparation will allow him to challenge defending champion and top favorite Tadej Pogacar.

Vingegaard previously indicated that he is already thinking about the Tour during the Giro. "That is also why I don’t want to aim for every stage win. In that case, it can be harder than necessary. So we are clearly thinking about the Tour de France in the long term. I believe the Giro can help me by lifting myself to a higher level."
Richard Plugge, the team’s general manager, believes Vingegaard can win the Tour de France again this summer, he writes in his column for Wielerflits Magazine. Bolstered by Wout van Aert’s victory at Paris-Roubaix, Plugge once again believes that ‘the best rider in the world can be beaten.’ "Resilience had once again prevailed over adversity after Wout’s win," Plugge said.
