French climber Kévin Vauquelin will join INEOS Grenadiers for the next three seasons. The seventh-place finisher in the most recent Tour de France is transferring from the French team Arkéa-B&B Hotels.
The 24-year-old climber also finished second in the Tour de Suisse and the Flèche Wallonne, demonstrating his versatility. A year earlier, he won the second stage of the Tour de France in Bologna.
“I am incredibly proud to be part of this team, which has shaped cycling history for over ten years, both in grand tours and throughout the rest of the season. I’m still in shock. Arkéa-B&B Hotels will always remain important to me. It’s the team where I turned pro, where they trusted me and gave me responsibility. I was able to develop and learn my craft in a calm environment.”
Now Vauquelin is becoming increasingly ambitious. "I’m really looking forward to discovering a new environment, new teammates, new equipment, and a new way of working with the staff. For me, it's a logical next step in my career to continue my development and explore new horizons."
“Intelligent rider”
The British team firmly believes in the potential of the Frenchman. “I have enthusiastically followed Kévin’s progress over the past seasons,” said Sir Dave Brailsford. “He’s not just a powerful rider who knows how to win.”
“But during this year’s Tour, I was also impressed by the new dimension he added to his racing. He races with intelligence and ambition. We believe his best years are still ahead of him, and we look forward to helping him realize his potential.”
