Unibet Rose Rockets receive another invitation for Omloop Het Nieuwsblad
Unibet Rose Rockets will also make an appearance this year in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The French team with Dutch roots has – just like last year – received a wildcard for the Flemish season opener. Furthermore, the organization has notably also included Burgos Burpellet BH.
The Spanish team is perhaps somewhat the odd one out. Apart from that, the expected ProTeams will be present, including Team Flanders-Baloise, Cofidis, TotalEnergies, the ambitious Swiss teams Pinarello-Q36.5 and Tudor ProCycling, and the French Unibet Rose Rockets.
The squad including Dylan Groenewegen and Wout Poels was also at the start of last year’s Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Lukáš Kubiš was then the most eye-catching name. The Slovak champion impressed on the many Flemish climbs and managed to secure a sixth place in the final sprint in Ninove.
Besides the aforementioned ProTeams, all eighteen WorldTeams (including Visma | Lease a Bike, Soudal Quick-Step, UAE Emirates XRG, and Alpecin-Deceuninck) will also be present on Saturday, February 28.
With Van Aert and Van der Poel?
The final start list is still awaited, but the race can already look forward to the presence of former winner Wout Van Aert, Arnaud De Lie, Tom Pidcock, Paul Magnier, and Tiesj Benoot. And we will likely also see Mathieu van der Poel in action in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. The leader of Alpecin-Premier Tech told our camera after his World Cup win in Benidorm that participation is an option.
