Why victory in Hoogerheide World Cup is extra special for Puck Pieterse
And Puck Pieterse is ready to make a bid for the world title in cyclocross in just under a week. The Fenix-Premier Tech rider is in top form, as evidenced by her victories in Maasmechelen and now also Hoogerheide. In the Brabant town, Pieterse managed to take control of a thrilling race.
An interesting fact: this is the first time Pieterse has delivered a perfect cross weekend (two wins out of two) at the elite level. "I had never won twice in one weekend before," she points out in a flash interview with Telenet Play Sports. "Now I have, which is really cool."
"I felt like I was faster through the corners after the big bridge," she also reflects on the race. "From that point on, I wanted to be in front to then push hard. I didn’t want to sprint against Amandine (Fouquenet, ed.) or Zemanová."
With her triumph in Hoogerheide, Pieterse puts the finishing touches on her preparation for her main target this winter season: the World Championships in Hulst, Zeeland. "I hope to win the world title next weekend. That has always been the goal. We’ll take it a bit easy this week and then head towards Hulst," Het Nieuwsblad records.
