Where does the future of Wout Poels lie? If we are to believe the usually well-informed cycling journalist Daniel Benson, the Limburg rider will leave XDS Astana. According to Benson, Unibet Tietema Rockets is a serious option.
"This weekend I heard that Poels is in talks with Unibet Tietema Rockets," he writes in his substack. "It would be a huge coup for the Dutch team. What I know is that Poels has several options. A French team is also reportedly in the running to secure his signature."
The 38-year-old Poels made the switch last winter from Bahrain Victorious to XDS Astana Team, where he signed a one-year contract. The Limburg rider rode two Grand Tours with the Kazakh team but didn’t achieve any major successes. However, he did win the Tour of Turkey in early May, which earned him 250 valuable UCI points for his team.
