Wout van Aert can slowly but surely start thinking about training again. The Belgian from Visma | Lease a Bike was able to ride outside just nine days after ankle surgery.
The ride wasn’t long, but for him it was a victory. "Won today," he writes on his Strava profile with a celebratory emoji. In total, the Belgian completed a ride of 33.3 kilometers at an average speed of 32.3 kilometers per hour.
Van Aert crashed on Friday, January 2, during the Zilvermeercross in Mol. As a result, he suffered a fracture in his ankle. He was able to undergo surgery the following day. That marked the end of his cyclocross season.
