Stage 2 Jodoigne - Libramont (192.1km)

The second stage of the Tour de Wallonie takes the peloton deep into the Ardennes for a tough and exhausting ride of 192.1 kilometres with no less than 2,606 metres of elevation gain. The route between Jodoigne and Libramont-Chevigny is a true test for climbers and strong classics specialists.

During the first part of the stage, the terrain constantly rises and falls, but the real selection is expected in the finale. There, the riders face a succession of difficult climbs and technical sections, highlighted by the Côte du Fourneau Saint-Michel, a first-category climb that is certain to put the peloton under serious pressure.

After that climb, a nervous finale towards Libramont-Chevigny awaits, where short ascents, fast descents and a selective finish could create significant gaps. The succession of sprints and feeding zones also adds an extra tactical dimension to the race.

On paper, this second stage looks like one of the key stages of the week. Riders with general classification ambitions will not want to lose a single second here, while attackers will sense opportunities on the Ardennes roads. There is a strong chance that this stage will already reveal a clear favourite for the overall victory.
