Stage 12 Imperia - Novi Ligure (175.0km)
From Imperia on the Ligurian coast, the peloton heads inland through Piedmont on Thursday. The landscape rolls and glows — this is classic Italian cycling country.
The Colle Giovo (7.8 km at 4.9%) and the Bric Berton (7.5 km at 4.9%) are the day's principal obstacles. Neither is particularly steep, but at race pace they can test even well-organised sprint trains. More than 50 flat kilometres follow the final climb, setting up a textbook cat-and-mouse finale on wide roads.
Novi Ligure breathes cycling history. Caleb Ewan won a stage here in 2019. The profile points to puncheurs with fast legs.
