British Cycling Fans Face Streaming Switch: From Discovery+ to HBO Max in 2026
Those in Great Britain and Ireland who want to watch live cycling will have to switch to a different streaming service again starting at the end of March 2026. For the third time in three years, race footage has been moved to another streaming platform. This time, the change is from Discovery+ to HBO Max.
After GCN disappeared first and then Eurosport ceased operations in the United Kingdom, broadcasting rights shifted to the pay-TV channel TNT Sports. While TV broadcasts will still be available there for the time being, British viewers will soon need to tune in to HBO Max for online streaming. Currently, all of this is still available live online via Discovery+.
All these channels and streaming platforms are part of Warner Bros. Discovery, or were involved with Warner Bros. Starting at the end of March, the American company aims to bundle and broadcast more films, television, and sports through their streaming service HBO Max. British cycling fans should expect to pay a monthly fee of £30.99 to access TNT Sports and HBO Max.
For British and Irish cycling fans, a lot will change in 2026. For the first time, the Tour de France will not be available on a public TV channel. In recent years, Warner Bros. Discovery shared the rights with commercial channel ITV, but that partnership has ended. The Tour will only be available via the sports channel TNT Sports or HBO Max.
