A major blow for the French team at the European Road Cycling Championships in the Ardèche. Home favorite and top contender Pauline Ferrand-Prévot has to miss the European Championships due to illness.
Ferrand-Prévot still competed last weekend at the World Road Cycling Championships in Rwanda, where she finished a disappointing sixteenth. The rider couldn’t keep up with Marlen Reusser, Demi Vollering, and Kim Le Court toward the end, when the world title was already out of reach.
Whether the season is over for the French Tour winner is not yet clear. This week, Ferrand-Prévot was also announced for the Gravel World Championships later this month in Limburg.
