Finish line of Beobank Samyn Ladies collapses after accident
The riders competing today in the Beobank Samyn Ladies will need to be extra careful in the finale. The finish arch was actually run over and damaged by a truck before the start of the women’s race, as seen on social media.
We’ve seen this happen before in the Tour de France and some other major cycling races, but it’s still rare for the finish arch to have to be removed before a race even starts.
The race did start at the scheduled time, though. Normally, the women race on the same day as their male counterparts, but it was decided to hold the women’s race one day earlier this year.

Riders like Charlotte Kool, Lara Gillespie, Ilse Pluimers, Letizia Paternoster, and Sofie van Rooijen are set to tackle multiple laps of the traditional local circuit around Dour.
With the cobblestones of Rue Chasse de la Motte (300 meters), Rue des Jonquilles (400 meters), Côte de la Roquette (600 meters), Côte des Nonnettes (300 meters), and Rue de Belle Vue (500 meters), the course will be a challenging, bumpy ride. The finish is expected around 5:30 PM.
