General classification ruined? Teammate bizarrely drops Daniel Felipe Martinez in Paris-Nice
Daniel Felipe Martinez's second place was seriously jeopardized on Sunday during the final stage of Paris-Nice. With just over 50 kilometers to go, teammate Laurence Pithie made a strange swerve, causing the Colombian to crash hard into a wall.
Martinez appeared to be in a lot of pain afterwards and quickly fell more than a minute behind the peloton, where Visma | Lease a Bike had meanwhile taken control ahead of the last two climbs of the day.
The Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe rider can afford to lose a few more minutes on Sunday, however. His lead over third place Georg Steinhauser is already nearly two and a half minutes.
