Gent-Wevelgem Renamed and No Longer Starts in Ypres

Gent-Wevelgem changes its name. The race will now be called 'In Flanders Fields: From Middelkerke to Wevelgem'. In addition, the WorldTour one-day race will no longer start in Ypres: as the new name already indicates, from 2026 the riders will start in Middelkerke.

The agreement with Middelkerke is valid for ten years, until 2035, according to organizer Flanders Classics. Ypres has been the starting location since 2020; before that, the race started in Deinze.

The finish will remain in Wevelgem at least until 2031, it was announced earlier. This also means that the finale remains unchanged. The Moeren, the climbs of the Kemmelberg, and the Plugstreets continue to be the main decisive sectors.
