Jonathan Milan Eyes Milano-San Remo After Hard-Fought Tirreno Finale
Jonathan Milan won Sunday’s final stage in Tirreno-Adriatico by outsprinting Sam Welsford. That gave an otherwise tough week a nice ending, he said in the post-race flash interview.
"I feel exhausted and happy at the same time. I really suffered a lot on the climbs this week, and today was no easy day either. Yesterday, I had to be pushed along in the gruppetto by my teammates, so I have to thank them for all the support they gave me. Not just during the stages, but beyond that too."
When asked about Milan-San Remo, where he will start next week, the Italian doesn’t want to think about it yet. "I want to enjoy this moment first. I’m really proud of how we finished this race as a team."
"For next week, we have two big names at the start with Tadej and Mathieu; it will be up to me to make it into the first group over the Cipressa. But we’ll see how it goes," he concludes.
